Kalinga Discovery
Fancy a voyage of discovery? Come and visit us!
In Kalinga, there are no mammoth monuments, no Unesco awards, no air-conditioned taxis and so far McDonald’s has not arrived. Tabuk (the provincial capital) is a developing town, not particularly interesting, dusty and flat. Few tourists pass through Tabuk, because in fact there is very little to do. It is not even easy to get there, and usually those who do get there are either lost or don’t quite understand where they are…
But those who have the courage to get there, either by choice or by chance, and to face the initial turmoil, can then treat themselves to unexpected surprises.
Kalinga is not for everyone. It is a region that can only be appreciated by those who can strip themselves of their comforts. But when you find yourself there naked, it is truly spectacular. The Kalinga is so wonderful, precisely because it is inaccessible and therefore irresistibly authentic. Its pillars are the lush nature and its welcoming people.
Compared to other adjacent provinces, tourism in Kalinga is still underdeveloped, for various reasons, but mainly due to the lack of infrastructure and services. More than decent hotels can now be found in Tabuk, but the rest of the province still remains rather undeveloped.
This is a pity because responsible tourism could contribute to the fight against poverty and because a trip to Kalinga can really be an experience of personal growth through getting to know others.
You can stay at the Rainbow House and Laura and Arnel are ready to accompany you on your discovery of this very special region through meeting the people. Depending on the wishes of our guests, we can organise trecking, community visits, cultural workshops and exotic food trips.
With a view to intercultural and human exchange, we encourage visitors to share their skills and passions with the children and young people of the region. These are always moments of intense sharing that open windows into each other’s worlds.
